A computer scientist, Polish, grew up in the Czech Republic, now living in Portsmouth, UK. Please call me "Jack" even though I spell my name "Jacek".
I have a blog with, you know, bloggy stuff.
I have profiles at Google+, Facebook and Linked In.
I'm a lecturer at the School of Computing at the University of Portsmouth (UK). My research interests are all around the Web: Semantic Web, Web services, Web architecture and Web science, and Mobile Web.
My publications — some papers and articles of mine, in PDF (page to be updated and improved).
(The icon comes from my earlier employer, Systinet, now part of HP.)
A great hobby of mine was riding a motorcycle — see my old bike.
Casual photography is a small hobby of mine, see my pics at flickr and some older assorted pictures here.
Before the Web took over, I used to read a lot of sci-fi and fantasy books. My favourites are Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams from the absurdity department, J.K.Rowling in the swords-and-magic fantasy area and Isaac Asimov, J.R.R.Tolkien from among the serious sci-fi authors. Plus I heartily recommend Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged and Mary Doria Russell's The Sparrow.
Other things I would recommend are movies by Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino, some web comics (the link opens about 12 new windows) and the Czech site Hyena.
